Dare To Be Square

Last year our friend Boo (yes, thats her real name) was feverishly working on her new quilting book. She makes heavy metal quilts under the name Quiltsrÿche. (www.Quiltsrÿche.com) Boo makes modern heirloom quilts just like your metal-loving, half-blind Grandma would. She asked if I was free to come help her out with some of the sewing and technical questions. What followed was a series of days munching on pizza, drinking some wine, and sewing little scraps of fabric together.

Fast forward to one year later, and POW the book explodes onto the bookshelves. I’m not a quilter, I try to never design garments with a ton of tiny pieces to it, but this book is amazing. If you’ve ever wanted to make a quilt, or a pillow this is the book for you. My personal favorite is “Does not Compute”.

August Wedding

Summer has rolled around again, along with the flurry of weddings that seem to monopolize every other weekend.
This summer Deco Modiste was commissioned to make the lovely Birdie the most amazing vintage inspired wedding dress. That"s not all......We are also making four different bridesmaid dresses.

The Bridal Gown is made of champagne silver crepe backed satin. Birdie is having a hand tatted veil custom made to compliment the 1940's feel of the gown. The design of the dress is from 1947 and is glamorously elegant with just a hint of old Parisian charm.

Having had two muslin fittings already, today we have the third and final muslin fitting. (With Rose champagne in hand)

The Parasol Party

This is one of the dresses I am creating for "The Parasol Party" fashion show. The themes are Marie Antoinette and flirty fifties. All of the dresses are being made from reclaimed and reworked wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

May Showroom Sale

The May showroom sale has been canceled......Sorry to everyone that was planning to come on down. I will be out of town over the weekend. BUT I would love to set up appointments with those who would like to come and shop.
